Jalapeño was designed from the ground up for LLM inference, drawing on the kernels and memory patterns OpenAI's frontier models rely on. Engineering samples already run real workloads in the lab, including GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark, at target frequency and power. Broadcom supplied the silicon and networking while Celestica built the rack systems. OpenAI used its own AI models to speed up the chip's design.

🤧 Gates, OpenAI and Anthropic Bet $500M to INTERCEPT the Cold
Evolving AI: Intercept is a new fund built to end the colds and flu that make you sick every winter.

Stripe organized the $500M effort, with money from Anthropic, the OpenAI Foundation, Flu Lab, Bill Gates, and a group of Jane Street traders.
The goal is to dramatically cut common colds and flu, and one day wipe them out.
It backs two products, a broad-spectrum shot or spray that blocks many viruses at once and air-cleaning tech for offices and schools.

Stripe executives Nan Ransohoff and Charlie Petty are running the effort after gathering about 40 scientists last August to test whether ending common respiratory viruses is realistic.The fund backs early drug and air-cleaning projects, betting that new protein design and immunology tools make broad protection possible. These infections cost the world nearly $600B a year and keep people sick for roughly 5% of their lives.
